india, early march ’24

It filled my heart to go back to India after a 5 year hiatus (thank you COVID…). Just felt like being home again – I’m already thinking about the next time I’ll get to walk to the corner store with my grandparents in Bombay; drink nariyal pani straight from the coconut; almost get run over by a car, rickshaw, scooter; etc, etc, etc.

This trip was a whirlwind given the (most beautiful) wedding we attended for the dearest family friend. Lots of opportunity for photography, so tons of pictures from Bombay and Jaipur in this one. Given the longer post, have a few more captions sprinkled throughout. Tried to soak it all in!

Felt only fitting to show the loveliest varmala ceremony from the Jaipur wedding as the first photo in this post (above). Below, some scenes from popular South Bombay sights.

It’s wedding time – shaadi in Hindi, for those who are curious! First in the Jaipur shaadi series is the colorful afternoon of haldi & mehendi.

And then the wedding ceremony itself, featuring the bride and groom (of course), and the lovely mother and sister of the bride.

Now for the Jaipur sights. Below, stunning architecture from Amer Fort on the outskirts of Jaipur.

Now, a few more Amer Fort arches, + Jaipur City Palace. They call it the Pink City for a reason…

Finally, Jaipur’s Jantar Mantar below – the king’s astronomical observatory.
